$35 Million in I-JOBS Funds to 71 Communities
Posted 8 July 2010
71 communities throughout Iowa will receive a combined total of $35 million to enhance water infrastructure in their communities. The funds are from the Water Quality Financial Assistance Program, and communities with populations of less than 10,000 were eligible to apply. The program is a part of the Culver/Judge I-JOBS initiative.

“The I-JOBS awards announced today mean that 71 small communities will receive the support they need to move forward with water infrastructure improvements that will create a safe, quality water supply for their residents,” Governor Culver said. “These projects are further evidence that I-JOBS is continuing to move Iowa forward.”

I-JOBS provided $55 million for the Water Quality Financial Assistance Program, which the Iowa Finance Authority administers. Of that total, $35 million is reserved for communities with populations less than 10,000 for drinking water and wastewater projects. The remaining $20 million is reserved for communities with populations greater than 10,000. Those funds were committed to Clinton, Sioux City and Davenport last year.
